A "Lunar eclipse" had been written before 6000 years ago. Maya believed that was a jaguar which swallowed the moon, or Three-legged-Toad (!) for Chinese.
In many parts of Earth humans believed that the moon had been eaten by a Dragon and most of them tried to keep the Dragon away with rituals and (usually) they saccessfully drove the Dragon away.
